Dorothy M. Koch

KOCH, Dorothy M. (Giovine), 90, of Bruce Lane, Warwick passed away Sunday morning, July 24, 2011, at home surrounded by her loving family.
She was the wife of the late Dr. Peter Koch. Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Alfred O. and Ida (D'Agostino) Giovine. She resided in West Warwick before moving to Warwick in 1987.
Mrs. Koch attended St. Xavier's Academy and graduated from St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing in 1944. She was a nursing supervisor in the operating room at St. Joseph Hospital and the former Army Hospital in Stevensville, Newfoundland, Canada. Then she became the office nurse in the private practice of her late husband Dr. Peter Koch until she became a fulltime mother and grandmother. She was a communicant of St. Gregory the Great Church, a former member of the Women's Auxiliary of Kent County Memorial Hospital, the East Greenwich Yacht Club and Potowomut Golf Club.
She leaves two sons, Peter A. Koch and his wife Marite of Warwick and Dr. Paul S. Koch and his wife Joanne of East Greenwich; a daughter, Dr. D. Patricia Koch of Warwick; six grandchildren, Kelly Koch of Springfield, MA, Amy Koch and Kristen Koch both of Boston, MA, Peter Koch, Jr. of Charlestown, MA, Kathryn Koch of Charleston, SC and Paul Koch, Jr. of Los Angeles, CA and two sisters, Martha Ducharme of Warwick and Ann DeConti of North Providence. She was the sister of the late Savina Annicelli and Lt. Col. Alfred Giovine.
Her funeral will be held on Thursday, July 28, 2011 at 8:45 am from the HENAULT-GALLOGLY Funeral Home, 5 Eddy Street, West Warwick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am in St. Gregory the Great Church, 360 Cowesett Road, Warwick. Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, West Warwick. Visiting hours Wednesday 4-8 pm. You must take comfort in the the blessing that you were given to care for her these many years, and what wonderfull care it was, you were the very best daughter a mother could ever dream of. I feel your heavy heart, as we were both caregivers to our mothers, knew we must one day say goodbye. But know this, she will always be with you because of your loving care, you will be truly blessed beyond measure of this world.
