Obituary
Weldon C. Hubbard, 86, of Lincoln formerly of Beatrice died at The Monarch Hospice House in Lincoln on Monday, June 24, 2013. He was born in Beatrice on October 23, 1926. He graduated from Beatrice High School in 1944. He was employed at Dempsters Foundry in Beatrice from 1944 until 1981, the last ten years he was the foundry superintendent. He was married to Stella M. Hale on November 21, 1945 in Marysville, KS. In 1981, they moved to Lincoln where he worked in the inmate store at the State Penitentiary for the State of Nebraska, retiring in 1989. He also worked at Pershing Auditorium. They returned to Beatrice in 2001. He is a member of St. John Lutheran Church of Beatrice. He was on the Board of Directors and President of the Beatrice Bowling Assn. He also served as the Nebraska State Bowling Assn. President. He was inducted into the Beatrice and Nebraska Bowling Hall of Fame. He coached YRI baseball in the 1950's. He enjoyed bowling, lawn work, gardening, jigsaw puzzles, Husker athletics especially football. Survivors include his wife, Stella of Lincoln; one son, Dennis Hubbard and wife Aimee of Lincoln; four grandsons, Michael Hubbard and wife Dulce of Mililani, HI, Derek Hubbard and wife Shelby of Lincoln, Brian Hubbard and wife Stephanie of Martinez, GA and Steven Hubbard and wife Charlene of Santa Fe, TX; eight great-grandchildren, Anya, Grant, Gregory, Catherine, Olivia, Zachary, Victoria and Miranda; two sisters, Dot Cornelius of Beatrice and Estella Peck of Fairbury; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond G. and Elizabeth Traubel Hubbard; two brothers, John and Ted Hubbard. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, July 18, 2013 at the Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice with Pastor Kelly Pedersen officiating. Inurnment of the cremains will be held at a later date. There will be no viewing. The body has been cremated. A guestbook for signatures will be available at the Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice from 8:00 A.M. on July 16th to time of services on July 18th.
