Virginia LaLama
November 26, 1926 - August 19, 2013
Virginia “Jean” LaLama, of New Kensington, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 19, 2013, with her loving family at her side. Born November 26, 1926, on the south side of Pittsburgh, to the late Walter & Pauline Majewski Dombroski. The family moved from Pittsburgh when she was a child to the Logan's Ferry area where she spent her childhood. She was a graduate of Plum High School and a resident of New Kensington since her marriage to John C. LaLama in 1950. Virginia was a member of Mt. St. Peter Roman Catholic Church of New Kensington. Her biggest enjoyment was spending time with her family during the holidays when all her children would come back to New Kensington every year for Christmas. She also enjoyed playing cards and traveling to the local casinos with her friends. Surviving are her children, daughter Phyllis LaLama of Lower Burrell, son David F. LaLama and wife Vicki of Charlotte, NC and son John N. LaLama and wife Judy of Mt. Lebanon, Pa. Also surviving are the grandchildren, Tony and Jesse both from Charlotte and Jessica and Julia of Mt. Lebanon. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband John C. LaLama, who died on March 28, 1986 and her six siblings, which she was the youngest, Walter, Genevieve, Dorothy, Elizabeth “Betty”, Frances and Louis Dombroski, who was killed in action during WWII. Viewing will be on Wednesday from 6-8 PM in ROSS G. WALKER FUNERAL HOME LTD., 217 Freeport Road, New Kensington, where prayers of transfer will be held on Thursday at 9:30 AM followed by a funeral mass at 10:00 AM at Mt. St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 100 Freeport Road, New Kensington. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell. To leave an online condolence visit
