Obituary
George C. "Christie" Rogier, 95, of Fostoria, passed away on Saturday December 20, 2008 at St. Francis Home in Tiffin.  He was born on May 30, 1913 in Perry Co. Indiana to the late Joseph and Mary (Bruggenschmidt) Rogier.  He married Bertha Elchert on September 2, 1939 in New Riegel and she preceded him in death on February 14, 1994.  Surviving are his sons, Robert (Gail) Rogier, Tiffin, Mike (Jean) Rogier, Fostoria, Donald (Shirley) Rogier, Risingsun, John Rogier, Tiffin, daughters, sister Rita Rogier C.PP.S., Oregon and Pat (Vince) Wasserman, Helena, 13 grandchildren, Becky Niekamp, Jay Rogier, Joe Rogier, Dawn Rogier, Nikki McIver, Phaedra Swonger, Chris Rogier, April Mowery, Marcus Rogier, Steve Wasserman, Scott Wasserman, Shawn Wasserman and Lisa Gillmor, 17 great grandchildren and 1 sister Gertrude Malone, Tell City, Indiana.  He was preceded also in death by 7 brothers.  George graduated from Leopold High School in Indiana and worked at Chrysler Casting in Fostoria for 38 years retiring in October of 1974.  He was a very faith filled person who enjoyed fishing, gardening, watching baseball and basketball games, raising strawberries, going back to Indiana and playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  He had a great sense of humor and was very independent.   He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus in New Riegel.    Visitation will be on Tuesday December 23, 2008 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at HOENING FUNERL HOME, 242 W. Tiffin St. Fostoria with a Christian wake service at 7:45 PM.  A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at All Saints Catholic Church, New Riegel on Wednesday December 24, 2008 at 10:00 AM.  Burial will follow at St. Boniface cemetery, New Riegel.   Contributions may be made to Seneca County School of Opportunity, All Saints Parish or Community Hospice Care of Seneca County.  Online expressions of sympathy may be made by visiting www.hoeningfuneralhome.com
