Robert "Bob" Shepherd
September 17, 1939 - November 10, 2008
Robert Merle "Bob" Shepherd age 69 of Timewell, Illinois passed away at 8:55 a.m. Monday, November 10, 2008 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Illinois. He was born September 17, 1939 in Adams County, Illinois the son of Russell W. and Kathryn Margaret Kaufman Shepherd. He married Linda Lou Busby on August 14, 1960 in Rushville, Illinois and she preceded him in death on August 26, 1993. He later married Carol Porter Moody on October 28, 1994 and she survives. Mr. Shepherd worked for the Brown County Highway Department for several years. He had served as Pea Ridge Township Road Commissioner and also worked in the maintenance department for Brown County Community Unit School District #1. Bob was engaged in farming and especially enjoyed raising livestock. He attended Poe School in Brown County, Timewell schools and graduated from Brown County High School. Mr. Shepherd was a member of the Mt. Sterling First Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife Carol Shepherd of Timewell. 3 children Jeffrey Alan Shepherd and his wife Terri of Timewell, Todd Matthew Shepherd and his wife Brittany of Timewell and Julie Ann Wavering and her husband Curt of Quincy. 3 step children Marc Moody of Springfield, Illinois, Becky Hesse and her husband Buck of Rochester, Illinois and Terri Shepherd and her husband Jeff of Timewell. 1 brother Russell Wayne Shepherd and his wife Pat of Timewell. 8 grandchildren Jon Shepherd and his wife Kristy, Jamie Ferguson and her husband Larry, Justin Shepherd, Mason Reichert, Coltin Shepherd, Shelby Shepherd, Jaci Shepherd and Meghan Hesse. 2 great grandchildren Gwen and Owen Ferguson also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 grandson Cody Shepherd. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 14, 2008 at the Mounds Cemetery near Timewell, Illinois with Rev. Aaron Foster officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 Thursday evening at the Hendricker Funeral Home in Mt. Sterling. Friends may also call from 8:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Mt. Sterling First Baptist Church. Condolences for the family may be left on line at The Hendricker Funeral Home in Mt. Sterling is in charge of the arrangements.
