David P. Bourbon Sr., 77, passed away peacefully Wednesday, February 13th, 2013 at his home in Santa Maria, California after a lengthy illness. His loving family surrounded him at the time of his passing. David was born December 3rd, 1935 to John and Margaret Bourbon and was one of 13 children (10 boys and 3 girls). He graduated from Santa Maria High School in 1954. David served in the US Army and received an honorable discharge as a Sergeant in 1959. He went to work for the Okonite Company and retired after 30 years, working in various manufacturing positions to produce high quality insulated wire and cable . Being a dedicated Santa Maria Native, David was an active member in the community for the past 50 years. David had several passions in life but Arm Wrestling over shadowed the rest. He was introduced into Arm Wrestling in 1973 and competed and remained closely involved with the sport for the past 40 years. He had a 200-9 Win Loss record which earned him a seat in the Arm Wrestling Hall of Fame. One other passion that is a close second is his love for playing Santa Claus for over 40 years. Even on his last day on earth while getting a close shave he requested from his son Michael, he said “you do realize you are shaving off Santa Claus' beard.” Lastly, his favorite and most proudest pastime was following his grandchildren as they excelled in Softball, Wresting, Little League, Football, Basketball and Professional Skateboarding. David was preceded in death by his beloved wife Lina Bourbon (2002) and his Stepson Joe Anaya Jr.(1980). Survived by his seven children, daughters; Lucy Shiroma(Steve) and Gerri Tow(Mike), sons; Jesse Anaya(Jackie), John Anaya(Jane), David Bourbon Jr.(Rachel), Bill Anaya(Judy) and Michael Bourbon(Marina).
