MICHAEL - Charles R.,74, passed away at his home in Cocoa Beach, FL, on Saturday, March 2, 2013. He went to be with the Lord and other family members that have passed before him. He was born on June 25, 1938 in Loyall, KY. After his father's death in 1943, Charles went to live with his Aunt and Uncle, Theora and E.W. Miracle and their daughter Joetta. Charles and Joetta became more like brother and sister, a relationship that has lasted a lifetime. Charles graduated from Powell High School and then attended the University of Tennessee graduating with and degree in electrical engineering. He played trumpet in the UT Marching band as well as a private dance band while at college. Afterwards, he went to work for the Martin Marietta Corp. in Orlando, FL. Then in 1962, he hired on with RCA working on several different Atlantic islands for the Missile Test Project. While stationed on Bermuda he met and married his wife, Christie Lynn Clarke in 1967. They spent two years on Antigua and then returned to the USA in October of 1968. He then went to work for contractors at Kennedy Space Center doing computer design work for the next 38 years. Charles loved his work. In September of 1985 the astronauts presented Charles with a "Silver Snoopy Award" for professionalism, dedication, and outstanding support that greatly enhanced flight safety and mission success during the Space Shuttle Program. Charles retired in June of 2000. He loved playing golf and was really very good at it. However, what he loved most was his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Christie C.(Clarke)Michael, his son, Jay C. Michael and his wife, Beth Michael, his grandson, Braden Ross Michael, his daughter, Laura C. Blevins, and her husband, Jay Blevins, and his granddaughter Hailey Jayne Blevins. He is also survived by his Mother, Sevia D. Moore, his Aunt Violet, Uncle Andy, and his beloved cousin "sister" Joetta (Miracle) Guida. Charles was a devoted husband, son, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. He will be deeply and greatly missed by his family, friends, and everyone who knew him. Friends will be received from 1 p.m. until time of service at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork, by Rev. Cynthia Cadenhead. Interment, Pringle Hill Cemetery.
