Blanche Arlene Kiser, 83, of Oakland, MD, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, August 3, 2013. Born March 28, 1930, at Red House, MD, she was the daughter of Carl Alvin and Anna Eula (Bachtel) Martin and step-mother, Pearl (Snyder) Martin. She was also preceded in death by her husband Edward Lewis Kiser; five sisters, three brothers and one half-sister. Blanche was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was raised in Red House, MD, married and moved to New Jersey where she and her husband raised their family. She was a homemaker most of her life but was employed by Path Mart grocery stores where she met her boss, Ruthie and co-worker, Tina who became her good friends. After retirement she moved back to Oakland in 2005, where she met Margaret Germain, a dear and treasured friend truly loved by Blanche. She enjoyed the Senior Citizen luncheons, helping with Hospice, playing cards and bingo with her friends, the many people in Liberty Square Apartments and her family. Blanche was a caring and giving person, always willing to help others. She took care of herself and managed her life well until the last few weeks of her life. She is happy tending God's roses today, though she will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Blanche is survived by one son, Edward Lewis Kiser and wife, Terri, Toms River, NJ; one daughter, Mary Ann Westrich and husband, Mark, Boise, ID; four half-sisters; Judy Umstot, Oakland; Elma Rodeheaver, Bel Air, MD: Dean Wilson, Mt. Lake Park, MD; Lenora Reams, Oakland; one half-brother, Carl Dennis Martin, Fairplay, MD; four grandchildren, Hope Westrich, Joy Westrich, Janice Kaifias and Michael Kiser; five great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at St. John's Lutheran Church, Red House, on Tuesday from1 to 2 p.m. Services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Regina Beard officiating. Interment will follow in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery. The Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 203 S. Second St., Oakland, is in charge of the arrangements.
