June 6, 1934 - August 4, 2013
Norman H. Bessette Sr., originally from Central Falls, Rhode Island, passed away on August 4, 2013, in Providence, Rhode Island. He was the son of the late Oliver Bessette and Dora Brais.
Mr. Bessette was a devoted husband to Mrs. Mary Bessette. He was a caring father to Norman Bessette Jr., Hope Bessette Tencher, Robin Bessette Carmire, Arlene Bessette Laprade, Sherry Bessette Gillen and Elanor Bessette.
Norman H. Bessette was a loving brother to the late Doris LaFrance, the late Gemmie Campbell, the late Theresa Lemire, the late Pete Bessette, Eleanor Cotton and Norma Rodrigues.
He also leaves to mourn 12 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and a host of family and friends.
He will be missed by all.

I knew this day was coming and i tried so hard to prepare my mind. Papa it didnt work. I miss you so much, Ive been walking around like a zombie since then, I havent been able to eat. All i want to do is sleep and hope i dream of you. I love you Papa and I await the day till i can kiss you again and feel your arms around me. You are/were the best dad a daughter could hope for.

Rachel....My kids knew him as Grandpa Norman....but for myself and the rest of the cousins he was always Grandpa Gateman....just thought I would throw that out there since I'm sure there are many people who knew him by "Gateman"....R.I.P. Grandpa Gateman....Love you and miss you but I know you are up there with the Lord by your side watching over us all.....

It didn’t take a lot to bring a smile upon your face. A simple cold coke on a warm summer day was enough. Seeing your Children, Grand Children and Great Grand Children as well as numerous nephews nieces make it through life was pleasure in your heart for sure. To the staff Evergreen Nursing Home, You guys are the best. To see you all come in talking to Norman minutes before his death meant so much to me. You treated Norman like a friend and not like it was a job you had to do. To Betty thank you for showing him Love and support for over 23 years together. To my loving wife Hope, I love you darling and Your Dad will be in Your heart a lifetime, To all of Normans Daughters. Son. Grand Children.
