Obituary
Donald R. White, 92, formerly of Gettysburg, PA died Wednesday afternoon, August 7, 2013 at the Village of Laurel Run, Fayetteville, PA. Born July 28, 1921 in Mohnton, PA he was the son of the late LeRoy and Miriam (Musser) White. He was the husband of the late Helen H. White who passed away February 2009. Mr. White was a 1939 graduate of Shellington High School, a 1949 graduate of Penn State University, and graduated from Officer Candidate School in 1942. He was a Veteran of World War II, a Captain in the Americal Division of the United States Army where he received two silver stars and one bronze star in the Pacific Theatre. He was employed by Central Chemical Corporation in Hagerstown, MD for 37 years where he was Vice President of sales. In addition he was a former member of the Elks Club, the Lions Club, the American Legion and the Gettysburg School Board. He was an assistant Little League baseball coach for the Gettysburg National Bank. He was member of St. James Lutheran Church. Donald is survived by his three children, Larry White, of Frederick, MD, David White of Fayetteville, PA, Elizabeth Ann Otto, of Mt. Holly Springs, PA, five grandchildren, and two brothers, Gerald White, of Reading, PA and Grant White, of Slatington, PA. He was preceded in death by his sister, Joyce Kerling.
