Obituary
Marcella Schultz, age 78, of Bird Island, died Monday, January 28, 2013 at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar. Memorial services are Monday, February 4th at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Morton with Rev. David Horton officiating. Burial is in the Morton Cemetery. Visitation is Monday at the church for one hour prior to the service. Arrangements are with Dirks-Blem Funeral Service of Olivia. Marcella Mae Schultz was born June 22, 1934 at Correll, MN, to Lester and Ruth (Swanson) Smith. When she was young her family moved to Appleton and then settled in Morton. Marcie graduated from Morton High School in 1952 and then worked in St. Paul for Hartford Insurance for a few years. Marcie married her high school sweetheart, Lloyd Schultz, on December 27, 1953 at Zion Lutheran Church in Morton. Since Lloyd was in the U.S. Air Force from 1953-1973 they made their home in several areas including Alabama, Minneapolis, Libya, North Carolina and Germany. After his military service they retired to North Carolina for a year and then moved to Bird Island where they have resided ever since. Marcie was a faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church in Morton where she taught Sunday School for many years and was a member of the Altar Guild. Marcie had been a member of the Bird Island American Legion auxiliary for 33 years. She had enjoyed watching PBS and the Hallmark channel, reading biographies of famous people, and spending time with her grandchildren and her great-granddaughter. Marcie is survived by her husband Lloyd Schultz of Bird Island, her four sons: Lloyd A. and Christel Schultz of New Ulm, John R. Schultz of Bird Island, Mark A. Schultz and special friend Pete Brown of Circle Pines, and Eric M. Schultz of Bird Island; her sister Beverly and Bruce Schroeder of Redwood Falls; her brothers: Gary and Nancy Smith of Mesa, AZ, and David and Mickey Smith of Cheney, WA; her six grandchildren: Derek Schultz, Elizabeth Wittenberg, Tracey Mehlhouse, Ann Mehlhouse, Alicia Schultz (special friend Ryan Follen), and Gabrielle Schultz; her great-granddaughter Kylie Ann Clara Follen. Marcie was preceded in death by her parents and her son Paul Steven Schultz. Blessed Be Her Memory
