Carol Liebeler, Minneapolis, passed away July 12, 2012 one day after her 62nd birthday. She was a research microbiologist at the U of M for 25 years specializing in infectious disease, pediatric infectious disease and allergy and asthma. She collaborated on the publication of many papers including a presentation at the First International Symposium on Pneumococci and Pneumococcal Diseases in Denmark. Carol had many interests, including gardening, gourmet cooking, jewelry making, painting, stained glass and fancy desserts, further expressing her creativity. She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Tony DeAngelis; three beloved cats, Petey, Luna and Bill; mother, Dee Horwitz, Scottsdale, Arizona; stepmother, Lois Liebeler, Dunedin, Florida; sisters, Nan Liebeler Sloan, Wayzata, JoAnne Liebeler, Minnetonka; nieces, Lisa DeAngelis, Orlando, Florida, Emily Okey, Wayzata; nephews, Nick DeAngelis, Tampa, Florida, Zach Sloan, Madison, Wisconsin; a step-brother, three step-sisters, and four cousins. Typical of her generosity, she requested her organs be donated. In lieu of flowers, gifts can be made to Feline Rescue, Inc. www. felinerescue.org. A celebration of Carol's life will be held at a later date.
DanMay she always rest in peace. I did not know her, but if she was anything like her sisters JoAnne and Nan, she was a kind and beautiful person.
