He was born January 28, 1931 in Avella the son of the late Phil Jean Tompsic Brozier. He was a graduate of Avella High School and than attended California University of Pennsylvania where he received his Bachelor’s degree in English and Mathematics. After receiving his degree, he took a position teaching for one term until he was inducted into the United States Army. He was a member of St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church in Avella. Following his military service, Mr. Brozier enjoyed a long and distinguished career as an English teacher at Burgettstown High School. He enjoyed singing, acting in plays at Washington Park Theater and traveling. He belonged to the American Legion in Avella and Cross Creek Valley Senior Citizens Center. He was a member and treasurer of Avella Volunteer Fire Department and the Cross Creek Valley Senior Citizens Center for many years. Surviving is a sister Virginia Boucher of the Alexandria Virginia area and several cousins nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by Brothers Ernest Brozier, Lawrence Brozier, Phil Brozier and a sister Marianne McDermott. At the request of the family there will be no public visitation. A memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday May 4, 2013 in St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church in Avella. Interment will held in St. Michael’s Cemetery in Avella followed by a luncheon in St. Michael’s Church social hall. Mr. Roman was a graduate of Washington High School and the Median School in Pittsburgh where he became a certified Orthotist and Prosthetist. Cumberland Coal Company employed him as a coal miner for the past seven years. Nathan was Roman Catholic. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America. He love going to concerts and especially to see Phish. He enjoyed cooking, traveling, camping, mountain biking, spending time with his family and going to the gym daily with his dad. In addition to his parents, he is survived by a sister Casey Roman, a brother Michael Damerow and a step brother Christopher Damerow all of Canonsburg. Maund, 85, passed peacefully away on Thursday, April 11th, 2013. He was born January 27, 1928 in Rices Landing, the son of Walter H., Sr. and Mary McMichael Maund. He graduated from Charleroi High School. Following high school he served in the US Air Force during World War II. He then enlisted in the US Navy during the Korean War. He enjoyed a long and distinguished career as a riverboat captain working for various private lines and retired after 37-years as captain of the M.V. Chartiers, US Army Corps of Engineers. Following retirement, he and his wife moved to Sun City West, Arizona where they enjoyed over twenty years of nice weather and good times. Playing cards, going out to eat, spending time with his granddaughters and musical theatre were “a few of his favorite things.” On September 4, 1956, he married Anna Mae Cosgrove, who passed away in Arizona on March 3, 2009. Surviving are daughters Linda M. Pecharka, of Washington and Amy (Frank) Mavrich and two granddaughters, Katie E. (James) Green and Emily M. Mavrich, of Canonsburg. He was preceded in death by his sister, Norma E. Celapino and a brother, James, during infancy. At the request of the deceased, there will be no services. DiPiazza, 92 of Canonsburg died Sunday March 17, 2013 in Canonsburg General Hospital. He was born August 9, 1920 in Sicily, Italy the son of Temistocles and Rose Zappala DiPiazza. At the age of four, he along with his family immigrated to America and resided in Greensburg and eventually settled in Canonsburg. During his youth he enjoyed building models and carving wooden ships. Throughout his life, he always loved working with his hands. He was a veteran of WWII having served in the United States Army in Belgium and Holland. He was wounded in action and was awarded the purple heart. After being discharged from the Army in 1946, he enlisted in the Air Force Reserves and subsequently served for an additional forty years. Mr. DiPiazza was employed by NASA as an engineer in Berea, Ohio for forty years. Following his retirement from NASA, he returned to Canonsburg and has lived there ever since. He was a member of Saint Patrick Roman Catholic Church in Canonsburg where he served as an usher. Surviving is one sister Antoinette Bracale of Boyton Beach, FL and one brother Angelo P. (Evelyn) DiPiazza of Monroeville, PA. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. Mr. DiPiazza was preceded in death by a sister Connie Adamo and two brothers-in-law Tony Adamo and John Bracale. He was born August 27, 1925 in East End in Canonsburg where he grew up the son of Joseph and Edna Albert Thomas. Mr. Thomas graduated from Canonsburg High School and then served in the US Merchant Marines during World War II and the US Army during the Korean War. In 1955 he moved to Peters Township with his wife Josephine Urso Thomas who died in 1992. For more than thirty years he worked at the General Motors Fisher Body Plant in McKeesport, PA as a master tool and dies man. Mr. Thomas enjoyed harness racing and co-owned and trained horses. He also enjoyed golf, was a huge Pittsburgh Steelers fan and loved all sports. Surviving are two sons Matthew (Christine) Thomas and Daniel (Lynn) Thomas of Peters Township and four grandchildren Ashlyn, Alex, Elizabeth and Amber. Also surviving are a brother Anthony Thomas of Washington and a sister Ruth Reda of McMurray and several nieces and nephews. For the past few years, she was a member of the Canonsburg ELKS. She lived for her grandchildren and loved giving of herself to family, friends and all who knew her. Going to the Meadows Casino and playing slot machines was enjoyable for her. Surviving is one son Steve (Karen) Bardos of Cranberry Township and her two grandchildren Michael and Alexis Bardos. On August 6, 1966 in St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church in Canonsburg, she married Frank J. Karluk who died in 1999. Surviving are a daughter Cassandra (Clark) Adams of Strabane, Christine Karluk of Toledo, OH, Kathy (Bruce) Borelli of Eighty-Four, Sharon (Randy) Miller of Pickerington, OH and one son Gary (Juanita) Karluk of Washington. Mr. Johnson was employed by Universal Cyclops Steel plant in Bridgeville and later in Universal Cyclops Steel Pittsburgh plant for a total of 47 years from 1959 to 1998 in their hot mill production division. He was a lifelong member of St. Hilary Roman Catholic Church in Washington. He loved hunting and fishing, was an avid Steelers and Notre Dame football fan. His greatest joy in life came from spending time with his family and especially his grandsons. On April 28, 1973 In St. Hilary Roman Catholic Church in Washington, he married Eleanor Popeck who resides in Cape Coral.
