(Krull) Harris WATERPORT - Our most loved angel, Joyce M. Harris, 65, of Oak Orchard River Road, passed on April 24, 2015 in the Martin Linsin Hospice Residence after her courageous battle with cancer. She was born on October 22, 1949, in Clarence Center, to the late Howard and Lois (Long) Krull. At the age of four, she moved and lived her life on the family farm in Waterport. She was preceded in death by her sister, Judith Krull Munzel. Joyce graduated from the Albion School system and attended Rochester Business Institute. She was the secretary / bookkeeper for her family’s farming operation and then for Torrey Farms and finally for Shelby Stone. She has been on the Town Board of the Town of Carlton for eleven years. Recently she, along with her partner Molly Gardner, enjoyed running a refurnished furniture business, Chartreuse, out of the Shops on the Ridge Coop in Greece. She loved being with her grandchildren, attending their horseshows, sporting games and school events, plus taking them for rides in her convertible. She always looked forward to the “Friday night” comraderies with friends and lifelong YaYa group. She was always going to thrift shops, garage sales and flea markets. She had a passion for reading and her animals, birds and extensive flower gardens. Joyce is survived by her husband of 47 years, Wilson (Wil) Harris of Waterport; her daughters, Jill (James) Darling of El Paso, Texas and Michelle (Scott) Ander of Gasport, New York; her four grandchildren, Nickolas and Abigail Ander, and Joseph and Joshua Darling; a brother, David (Darlene) Krull of Waterport; plus nieces and nephews. She was born August 4, 1926 in Hubbard Ohio, a daughter of the late Alfred and Mary (Magee) Conn. Jerry moved to Holley in 1930 and was a lifelong resident. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Orleans County Ladies Auxiliary and a life member of the Cobblestone Society. She retired from Eastman Kodak Co. Jerry and her sister Ellen Germeo enjoyed traveling, especially to Ireland, England, Scotland and Wales. She also enjoyed crocheting and crafting. He was born 3/17/1925 in Albion to Fortunato and Gladys(Spade)Sidari and was a life-long resident of this area. As part of the last Mounted Cavalry Division in WWII, Frank served as an Infantryman and Rifleman from 1943-1946 in the 124th Cavalry in the China-Burma-India Theater. As a result of his service, he was awarded the Bronze Star, the American Service Medal, the WWII Victory Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. Following his Military Service, Frank worked as a Union Carpenter and then as the Albion Code Enforcement Officer. For over 75 years, he was active in the Boy Scouts of America having served 30 plus years a Scoutmaster for Troop #164. Frank was a member of Holy Family Parish, the Albion VFW, and the Hook & Ladder Company of the Albion Fire Department. Mr. Sidari was predeceased by his brother Leonard Sidari and his sisters Jane Ciccoline and Eleanor Irwin. Mr. Lewandowski had an almost photographic memory for sports statistics and loved sports of all kinds. He particularly liked watching the Buffalo Sabres and Buffalo Bills. Bob was an avid reader and collected Sports Jerseys. Mr. Lewandowski will be remembered as a person who always put the needs of others above those of his own. Sodoma, 70, formerly of Albion, NY and currently of Greencastle, PA and Cape Coral, FL, died peacefully on April 13, 2015 following a short battle with cancer. He is survived by his loving wife, Karen, of 47 years; two daughters: Amanda (Coleman) McMahon of Catonsville, MD and Rebecca (Stephen) Wager of Lima, NY; grandchildren: Nathan, Liam, and Claire McMahon and Trenton and Alina Wager; two brothers: Robert J. (late Sharon and Jean) Sodoma of Cape Coral, FL and Randy (Jocelyn) Sodoma of Ft. Wright, KY; and several aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Born January 18, 1945, he was the first child of the late Edward A. and Gwendolyn Sodoma of Brockport, NY. Sodoma graduated from Brockport High School in 1963. He went on to the State University of New York at Brockport and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education in 1967 followed by a Master of Science in Education in Administration in 1975 and a certificate of Advanced Studies in Educational Administration in 1977. Sodoma began his 35-year career with Albion Central School District in 1967 as a fifth grade teacher at Waterport School. He held several administrative positions including Superintendent of Schools from 1984 - 2002. During his tenure in the district, Sodoma worked diligently to ensure that Albion’s students received a high-quality education that focused on solid academics, character education, athletic achievement, and life-long success. His influence spreads well outside of Albion, as he mentored many teachers and school administrators who began their careers at ACS. Admired throughout the state as an administrator of great integrity, Sodoma’s vision led the district to receive local, state, and national recognition. Upon retirement in 2002, the district dedicated the Ronald L. Sodoma Elementary School in his honor. Sodoma’s commitment to the community was exhibited through volunteerism with several local organizations, including: the First Baptist Church, Totem Pole Playhouse; Allison-Antrim Museum; the Greencastle-Antrim Elementary School, where he served as a reading tutor. He was an active member, former President, and long-time Secretary of Rotary Clubs of Brockport, NY; Albion, NY; and Greencastle, PA. He received the Paul Harris Fellow Award twice for distinguished service to his community. He lived his life with uncommon generosity and integrity. She was born 10/16/1935 in Clarendon to Raymond and Gladys(Bowen)Sherwood and was a lifetime resident of this area. Betty attended a one-room school house in Manning. After graduating from Holley High School, she attended Brockport State College where she received her Bachelor’s Degree, followed by her Master’s Degree, and began teaching fifth grade in Albion at the age of 20. She served Albion Central School District for thirty-four years; first as an elementary teacher, then as Reading Coordinator, Assistant Superintendent, Director of Elementary Education and finally principal of two different elementary schools. Betty led a very full life with a love of children, teaching, and traveling. She was also an artist, writer and illustrator. In 2001, Betty illustrated Memories of Manning by a schoolmate, Roy Bubb. In 2003 she wrote and illustrated her first book, Growing up on a Clarendon Muckland Farm, later re-titled Life: The Way It Was. She also published My Ma Ma, Whatever Happened to Eddie Stone? And Restoring Cobblesone A Lost Art. Betty was a member of Holy Family Parish, where she served on the Parish Council, on the Religious Education Committee, and the Vicariate of Orleans County, as well as a volunteer with Genesee/Orleans Ministry of Concern. She was also a 4-H Leader, served on the Board of Directors for the Red Cross, and was a member of the Clarendon Historical Society. Betty was predeceased by infant brother Gordon. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Adolf; loving children, Joseph (Buffy) Genter, Alexandra (Kevin) Andrews, as well as six long-term foster children; Grandson Bowen Andrews, Expected Grandson Clement Genter, Step Grandchildren: Harold, Marshall, and Jordan Dorrity; sister, Joyce Bell; brother, Carl (Barbara) Sherwood; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends.
