Cloy, age 51, died 7/28/2014 in Orchard Manor Nursing Home following a long and courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis. He was born 2/10/1963 in Niagara Falls to Donald and Judith (Dibbley) Cloy and had lived in this area all of his life. Kevin was a 1981 graduate of Royalton-Hartland Central School and a 1983 Graduate of SUNY Canton College of Technology receiving his degree in Criminal Justice. Mr. Cloy was a former Dairy Herd Improvement Technician for the Cornell Cooperative Extension. He enjoyed hunting, watching football, working on the Family Farm, his many friendships and spending time with his nephew Alex. He cause many people to smile when he would ride his lawnmower from his home to the basket factory to socialize with friends. Mr. Cloy was predeceased by his father Donald Cloy. He is survived by his wife of 28 years Elizabeth “Liz”, his stepson: Glen Sager of Middleport, his mother: Judith Cloy of Middleport, his brother: Donald “Ted” (Susan) Cloy of Perry, sisters: Kristen Wasnock of Barker, Melissa (Rob) Gogalock of Attica, his grand daughter: Skigh as well as several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends THURSDAY from 1-2 p.m. at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Route 31-Middleport where a Celebration of Kevin’s life will take place following visitation at 2 p.m. Interment will be in Hartland Cemetery. Barry, age 99, formerly of Hamilton Street, died 7/27/2014 just 6 weeks shy of her 100th birthday. Mrs. Barry was born 9/9/1914 in Warsaw, NY the daughter of the late William and Mary Spaulding. She married Arthur L. Barry on 12/2/1933. Mrs. Barry was an employee of the Arnold Gregory Memorial Hospital and the Orleans County Infirmary working in the capacity of a Nurse’s Aide. Mary was a member of Christ Episcopal Church and enjoyed crocheting and ceramics. Mrs. Barry was predeceased by her husband Arthur “Friday” Barry on 11/6/1976, her granddaughter Carol Jean Batt on 7/5/1977, her grandson Leonard T. Marks on 1/17/2006 and her daughter Jeanette Marks on 11/15/2012. She is survived by her children: Jean Batt, John(Marilyn)Barry, Michael(Patricia)Barry and Karen(Stanley)Dudek, her brother: Robert Spaulding, her sisters: Alice Gaylord, Suzanne Dykes, 14 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren. He was born September 28, 1961 in Albion, a son of the late Stewart and Shirley (Snyder) Watkins and had lived in this area all of his life. Scott had worked at Griffith Energy in Albion. He loved tinkering, especially doing mechanical work. He was predeceased by his uncle Pete. He is survived by his wife Kim of 29 years; his son Joshua S. Watkins and his daughter Haley Watkins both of Albion; his brother Steve (Chris) Watkins of Albion; his sister Sandy Watkins of Albion; close friend Tom Gallina of Rochester; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was born 9/22/1920 in PA and had lived in Western New York most of her adult life. In addition to a niece Adele Redfern, Stella is survived by many friends. Academy Street, died 7/18/2014 in the Martin Linsin Hospice Residence following a long illness. He was born 6/19/1942 in Albion to Anthony and Dorothy(Green)Restivo and was a lifetime resident of this area. KnightAlbion: Philip Knight age 78, died suddenly July 17, 2014. He was born December 5, 1935 in Albion a son of the late Michael and Anne (Vinn) Knight. Phil had lived in this area all his life and was a member of Holy Family Parish-St. Joseph’s Church and a former member of the Knights of Columbus. He was employed at T.J. Lipton for 27 years retiring in 1981 when the plant closed. After retiring from Lipton’s, Phil worked for the Village of Albion as the Superintendent at Mt. Albion Cemetery for 11 years. Phil enjoyed playing poker, gardening, fishing and always keeping busy. But no matter how busy he was, he always enjoyed spending time with his family. He was predeceased by his brother, Arthur. Medina NY, 14103. for Joette McKenna HainesPoint Breeze, Kent, New York Joette McKenna Haines, 76, passed away on July 13, 2014 after a brief battle with a rare and aggressive cancer. She was born November 7, 1937 in Albion, New York, the youngest of four, to Joseph A. McKenna and Mary D. McKenna. Joey, as she was known to many, graduated from Albion High School in 1955 and earned a Bachelor's Degree from Brockport State College in 1959. She retired from the Medina school system in 1992 after more than 30 years as a primary school teacher and reading specialist. Joey was an active, leading member of Holy Family Parish, serving for many years as a volunteer on the Special Liturgies and Bereavement committees. Her work and attention to detail helped to enhance the beauty of the liturgical seasons for all who visited the church. Joey and her husband Gene have a long history of welcoming people and their charitable causes into their home. They are charter members of the Oak Orchard Neighborhood Association (OONA) and avid supporters of the Oak Orchard Lighthouse Association. Joey always appreciated the beauty of the lighthouse and Point Breeze, delighting in all of the area's activity. Her generous spirit extended to the many animals who found loving homes and better lives through her heartfelt concern for every creature, great and small. Her own pets held a very special place in her life. Anyone who encountered Joey Haines will understand that describing the many extraordinary facets of her personality is almost impossible. She was the most unique, loving, generous, and whimsical individual one could ever have the good fortune to know. All who knew her were most blessed by her friendship and love. Maxon (Kent) James I. Maxon, age 58 of Marsh Creek Road, died 7/11/14 in Strong Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. Jim was born 5/11/1956 in Brockport to Harold and Isabelle Lois(Callard)Maxon and was a lifetime resident of this area. He was a 30 year employee of Rochester Products/Delphi and retired at age 51, at which point he started working with his brother-in-law Bob Wilson at Locust Grove Farms, a job he truly enjoyed. Mr. Maxon really enjoyed travelling and since 2002 had visited 41 States with his wife. With the help of family and friends, he built the family home. Jim was also a member of the Carlton Fire Department where he received his EMT designation. Affectionately called “The Brain”, Jim had the ability to know how to do things the correct way. Ergott Jr.(Carlton) Delvin L. Ergott, Jr. age 74 died July 10, 2014 at The Villages of Orleans. He was born April 30, 1940 in the Town of Gaines, a son of Ruth Ergott Smith and the late Delvin L. Ergott Sr. and had lived in this area all of his life. Delvin graduated from Albion Central School, Class of 1959 and enjoyed helping plan the class reunions. He was employed for 26 years at General Electric/Black and Decker until it closed in 1986. He was a truck driver there for many of those years and drove truck part-time for Starkweather Freight Lines. Delvin loved being a truck driver and loved talking cars. He joined the Carlton Fire Department in 1959 and was a life member. In 1987 he was diagnosed with M.S. and was no longer able to work. He enjoyed morning coffee with the boys for several years until he was no longer able to attend. His biggest love was his 1940 Ford Coupe and his trucks. In addition to his mother Ruth, he is survived by his wife Carol (Morton) Ergott whom he married September 30 1977; his sons Delvin L. (Marci Lapinski) Ergott III of Hilton, Paul A. Ergott of Greensboro NC; his daughter Kathryn (Michael) Gross of Hamlin; 3 grandchildren Delvin L. Albion, NY 14411 for Ralph G. PoelmaGaines: Ralph G. Poelma, age 98, died July 7, 2014 at Lakeside Beikirch Care Center in Brockport, NY. Born November 2, 1915 in Albion, N.Y., Ralph lived on the family farm for 93 years until entering assisted living and skilled nursing care in Brockport, N.Y. On April 17, 1943 he married Pearl Wemesfelder. They owned and operated Ralph Poelma Farms in Gaines until he retired at the age of 87. His diversified farming included fruits, vegetables and livestock. He graduated from Cornell University 2 year Agriculture Program. A member of the Gaines Carlton Community Church for 85 years Ralph served as a Deacon, a Trustee, a member of four Pastoral Search Committees and was active in the Men’s Fellowship. He received his church’s first “Lay Person of the Year” award. Ralph was an active member of the Albion Lions Club and was chairperson of the Speech and Hearing committee for 30 years. He received 2 Lions Club Awards for Distinguished Service and was Club President in 1984. Especially proud of being a Red Cross Blood Donor, Ralph gave over 28 gallons spanning a period of about 75 years. He was also a member of the Farm Bureau Cornell Cooperative Extension, the Cobblestone Society and the ProFac and Seneca Foods Cooperatives. Ralph was known for being a hard working farmer, an astute businessman, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a dear friend to many. Special interests included rides through the countryside, playing 500 and visiting with neighbors and friends. He was predeceased by his wife, Pearl (Wemesfelder) Poelma; Parents, Gerrit and Jennie (Vink) Poelma; sister, Dorothy (Homer) Morrisey; brother, Royce (Patricia) Poelma.
